To check into addiction treatment is to check out of time. You enter a world that doesn’t progress by days or weeks or months or any of the other standards by which we measure progress. Addiction treatment has its own logic; its own order. Drug treatment can’t work if it’s forced, or rushed. It takes time. Its own time. When you enter an addiction treatment center, you don’t have any choice but to take the plunge.
If you’re a victim of a drug abuse, you aren’t going to get sober outside of a an addiction treatment center. More to the point, you aren’t going to get better unless you completely follow your addiction treatment program. Rehabilitation never comes easy. But it really can work for you, if you have the courage to embrace it. With so much to lose, you can’t really afford to do anything less.
